FurDash is currently operated by an individual developer. We ("we," "our," or "us") are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

Beta Notice

FurDash is currently in beta. Our data collection and privacy practices described below remain in full effect. However, payment-related data collection through our third-party payment processors is not actively occurring during the beta period, as the Service is provided free of charge.

We will update this policy before any transition to paid service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

We collect information you voluntarily provide when using the Service:

Account Information

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (optional, used for SMS-based two-factor authentication)
  • Password (stored in hashed form; we cannot see your password)
  • Business name (optional)

Client and Pet Information

Information about your grooming clients that you input into the Service:

  • Client names, email addresses, and phone numbers
  • Client addresses (geocoded to coordinates for route planning)
  • Pet names, species, breeds, weight, and gender
  • Temperament, grooming, and medical notes
  • Vaccination records and proof documents (if you choose to track them)

Payment Information

  • Payment method details are processed securely by our third-party payment processors; we do not store card numbers or bank details
  • We store payment processor account identifiers to link your account
  • Deposit amounts, payment status, and refund records

Public Booking Information

When your clients book appointments through your public booking page, we collect:

  • Client name, email, phone, and address
  • Pet name, species, breed, and weight
  • Selected services and appointment preferences

Communications

  • Platform feedback and ratings you submit
  • Client reviews submitted through review links

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

We collect limited technical information automatically:

  • IP address (used for rate limiting, fraud detection, and activity logs)
  • Last login date and time
  • Registration IP address and fraud detection flags (e.g., duplicate phone, disposable email, VPN/proxy detection)
  • CAPTCHA verification data provided by our third-party CAPTCHA provider during registration and login

We do not use third-party analytics services or tracking pixels. We do not track your browsing behavior, pages visited, or device information.

1.3 Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage (not cookies) to:

  • Keep you logged into your account (authentication tokens)
  • Remember your theme preference (light or dark mode)

We do not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Clearing your browser's local storage will log you out of the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process your subscription through our billing provider
  • Collect deposits from your clients through our payment processor (on your behalf)
  • Send appointment confirmations, reminders, and notifications to your clients via email and SMS (on your behalf)
  • Geocode addresses and optimize routes for your grooming appointments
  • Deliver web push notifications for appointment updates
  • Generate calendar feeds for external calendar integration
  • Enforce rate limits to protect the Service from abuse
  • Log administrative actions for security auditing
  • Send you account-related emails (verification, password resets)
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

3.1 Service Providers

We share information with the following third-party service providers:

  • Payment processor: Deposit collection and payment processing. We share client email (for receipts), appointment IDs, and deposit amounts.
  • Billing provider: Subscription billing. We share your email and user ID.
  • Email service provider: Sending email notifications (appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations) to your clients. We share recipient email addresses and appointment details.
  • SMS provider: Sending text message notifications (appointment reminders, on-my-way alerts) to your clients. We share recipient phone numbers and appointment details.
  • Mapping service provider: Address geocoding and route optimization. We share client addresses to convert them to coordinates.
  • CAPTCHA provider: Bot protection during registration and login. The provider may collect IP address and browser interaction data to verify you are human.

3.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to:

  • Subpoenas, court orders, or legal process
  • Requests from law enforcement or government agencies
  • Protection of our rights, property, or safety
  • Prevention of fraud or illegal activities

3.3 Business Transfers

If FurDash is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

3.4 With Your Consent

We may share your information with third parties when you give us explicit consent to do so.

4. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Secure password hashing via ASP.NET Identity
  • JWT-based authentication with token rotation
  • Two-factor authentication (MFA) via email or SMS
  • Concurrent session limit (maximum 3 active sessions per account)
  • Rate limiting on authentication and public endpoints
  • Security headers (Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options)
  • Role-based access controls for administrative functions

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.

5. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as:

  • Your account is active
  • Needed to provide you with the Service
  • Required by law or for legitimate business purposes

When you request account deletion, a confirmation email is sent and you have a 7-day cancellation window before deletion begins. After confirmation, we will delete your data within 30 days, with the following exceptions:

  • Appointment records with associated financial data (deposits, payments) are retained for 120 days from creation or deletion to comply with payment dispute resolution requirements
  • Activity logs of administrative actions may be retained longer for security purposes
  • Information we are required to retain by law

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Access and Portability

You can access most of your information directly through your account dashboard. You can export a copy of all your data (including clients, pets, vaccinations, and appointments) from Settings → Account → Export My Data.

6.2 Correction

You can update your account information at any time through your account settings. For other corrections, please contact us.

6.3 Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us or through your account settings. Some information may be retained as required by law.

6.4 Marketing Communications

You can opt out of marketing emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing email or by updating your preferences in your account settings. Note that you will still receive transactional emails related to your account and the Service.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • Right to Know: You can request information about the personal information we collect, use, and disclose about you.
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information. If this changes, we will provide an opt-out mechanism.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected information from a child, we will delete it promptly.

9. Calendar Feed

The Service offers an optional calendar feed (ICS) that allows you to sync your schedule with external calendar applications. If you enable this feature:

  • A unique, private URL is generated for your feed
  • The feed includes appointment details, client names, contact information, and addresses
  • Anyone with access to this URL can view your schedule
  • You can regenerate the URL at any time to revoke previous access

Keep your calendar feed URL private. We are not responsible for unauthorized access resulting from sharing your feed URL.

10. Your Clients' Data

When you use the Service, you may input personal information about your grooming clients. You are responsible for:

  • Obtaining appropriate consent from your clients to store and process their information
  • Informing your clients about how their information will be used
  • Responding to your clients' requests regarding their personal information
  • Ensuring the accuracy of client information you input

We process your clients' information on your behalf as a "data processor." You remain the "data controller" for your clients' information.

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Posting the updated policy on our website
  • Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
  • Sending you an email notification for significant changes

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
